It is great to see that Network Rail have started to carry out essential work to repair the embankment and bank of the River Arun at Offham.
The River Arun has partially eroded the railway embankment and Network Rail therefore need to carry out work to repair the damage to maintain a safe railway. They have planned these works to avoid the use of materials such as steel or concrete. To carry out the repairs they will be using natural materials which will have a minimal visual impact on the landscape and will provide new habitat for aquatic flora and fauna.
Network Rail have also considered the size of the roads when planning their deliveries and the choice of vehicles that will be used when accessing the site via Offham Farm.
