During the coronavirus lockdown a new Arundel ‘Good News’ website was set up to share good news from around the town during lockdown months – and maybe beyond.
The website was set up by a local 9 year old Arundel resident. “We all need good news and right now there is a lot of bad news about. I would like to help balance it out by sharing lots of good news stories,” he said.
“It all started off as a project I did about Jacques Derrida about the power of language. My Dad and I talked about how and why certain stories are covered in the news, what words are used and why. I had the idea of starting my own news site deliberately sharing good news with positive uplifting language to contrast other bad or sad news and give people hope.
My mum helped me learn the WordPress website system and then I made the site by myself and put handmade posters around town. We have had visitors to the site from all around the world including Greece, Sweden, Australia, Germany and the USA which is amazing and lots of people have sent thanks to the email I set up.
I would appreciate anyone sharing the website and suggesting good news stories”.
If any local residents have good news to share it can be sent by email to sharemygoodnews@yahoo.com. The Arundel Good news website can be found at https://arundelgoodnews.wordpress.com
